One collectively impactful transit in May is Pluto’s retrograde in Aquarius until October 16 of this year. Pluto will station retrograde in the first week of the month, giving us an opportunity to reflect on the transformation that has occurred in the Aquarius areas of our charts over the last 18 months or so.
This retrograde is turning our recent collective transformation inward for review and deep reflection. Consider how power, innovation, and community have shaped your path forward. Think about how these themes have been relevant for you since Pluto fully ingressed into this sign in November of 2024. What has changed during this time? Pluto’s transit through Aquarius will take around 18 years, so we will have plenty of time to see this transformation through, including time during the retrogrades to revisit the themes and make any adjustments that need to be made.
🗓️ Key Transit Dates:
- Pluto in Aquarius Transit Dates: November 19, 2024 – March 8, 2043
- Pluto Retrograde in 2026: May 6, 2026 – October 16, 2026
I’ve broken down themes you might be experiencing during this transit based off your rising sign.
1️⃣ – Aquarius in the First House – Self
Aquarius risings: Pluto moving into our first house brings a transformative energy to our identity, our roles within our communities and how we relate to both truth and power. As an Aquarius rising, I’ve definitely been feeling this energy: when Pluto first ingressed fully into Aquarius, I quit my corporate job to pursue self employment, with the goal of doing it completely differently. Now I’m a business witch using astrology to help entrepreneurs.
Since November of 2024 we’ve been overhauling our identities, tearing down anything that no longer serves this version of ourselves. We’ve spent the past 18 years navigating Pluto’s transit through our 12th house and we’re taking the lessons we’ve learned from that journey through the underworld of our subconscious and using it to build a new identity for ourselves.
Pluto being retrograde feels a lot like revisiting old contracts, clearing the debris and removing things that are no longer serving. Whatever construction debris has accumulated around your identity over the past 18 months is due for removal. Roll up your sleeves and get ready to get a little dirty. This retrograde asks us to pause the remodeling of our identity and clean up the workspace so the transformation can continue.
2️⃣ – Aquarius in the Second House – Resources
Capricorn risings: your second house is your house of talents, assets and resources. These are the tools you bring to the table. This is a physical house with tangible things, skills, and resources, things like that residing within it so with yours ruled by Aquarius that could give you an unconventional way of accumulating physical resources, using your talents in unusual ways, or having an unconventional skill set. Pluto transiting in this house could also create a transformation with your relationship to your talents.
This Pluto transit his is a good time for you to learn something new. This is a good time for you to overhaul your skill set. If you are making a career change, it is probably going to show up during this time. If you have been thinking about a career change, that would be the symptom. Pluto retrograding in the second house could cause you to look at your actions over the past 18 months and ask yourself if you’re still in alignment, or if you’re feeling called to finally do the weird thing.
Follow those little intuitive hits that you get, the flash of a new idea that comes out of nowhere, the insight into the collective that seems to come in an unconventional way. That’s very Aquarian energy so over the next 18 years, this is going to give you a lot of opportunity to do things differently and use your resources in a whole new way.
3️⃣ – Aquarius in the Third House – Communication
Sagittarius risings: Pluto transiting your third house could be quite exciting for you because the third house covers topics like the early communication skills that we learn during our childhood, our relationships with our siblings, the ways that we communicate and how we move around our local neighborhoods.
Pluto moving into this house transforms the way we think, it also changes how we talk to one another and how we’re communicating locally. Maybe you’re transforming the ways that you connect with your siblings, the ways that you just talk to your nearest and dearest, or even how you show up in local neighborhoods.
I could see this giving you so much opportunity to develop your speaking skills, particularly in regards to the things that you’re talking about are transforming in the Aquarian ways of revolution, community and networks. This could be a great time to start a community organization, take on a leadership or teaching role locally or to otherwise transform the ways that you communicate within your local neighborhoods. The Pluto retrograde will highlight what aspects of the past 18 months are due for review, and what has been working for you. If there’s something that’s not working, this is a great time to overhaul it.
4️⃣ – Aquarius in the Fourth House – Home
Scorpio risings: With Aquarius in the fourth house, you may have an unconventional idea of what home looks like to you or have had a pretty unique upbringing. The fourth house covers topics like your roots, your foundations, your parents or caregivers and your origin story.
With Pluto moving here, you may completely transform your values system or your sense of home. You may physically change homes here via relocating somewhere, but overall this transit will cover everything that forms the foundation of your life: values, your definition of home and security or your physical environment.
Pluto makes us look at the things that are no longer serving us, and forces us to alchemize experiences and things from our childhood taking a look at those and bringing them to light. During this transit, but especially during the retrogrades, take a look at what was instilled into you at an early age. Do those values still resonate for you, or are they due for an overhaul? Do you need to unearth some hidden truths and alchemize past experiences so you can have more secure foundation moving forward?
5️⃣ – Aquarius in the Fifth House – Pleasure
Libra rising: the fifth house is pleasure, creativity, things that feel good, things that come from pleasure (such as children) and creative pursuits. With Pluto coming into your 5th house, you are transforming the way that you look at pleasure, overhauling your sense of creativity and pleasure, or otherwise overhauling the creative projects that you pursue. This may embark you on a huge journey of self-discovery in the themes of the house of pleasure.
This transit will demand that you channel your inner child, by following the dopamine, the joy, the serotonin, and the fun in all areas of your life. Our inner child is the guardian of our creativity and pleasure, so making friends with her is the fastest way to unlock the fun within this transit.
During the retrograde period, take this time to evaluate your relationship with pleasure. Over the past 18 months, what transformations have you undergone in this area of your life? Is transformation beckoning? Are you having fun? Over the next 18 years of this transit, you will be asked to revisit your relationship to pleasure and creativity. You might even embark on your most transformative creative pursuits yet.
6️⃣ – Aquarius in the Sixth House – Routines
The 6th house is our work, health, routines, all the things that shape up your daily life, so during this transit I could see you completely revamping your day-to-day, your life looks like one thing now, by the end of this transit, it looks completely different. I think we naturally do this, periodically, but this energy will probably be especially intense for you.
With Pluto going retrograde, maybe you’ve already overhauled some of your routines and things, and now it’s time to evaluate the impacts or you’re fine-tuning changes that have been in the works for a little bit. Another possibility is changing your work or home if you are feeling like you need to be in a new place during this transit. Lastly, evaluating your ideas of work/life balance and how your routines shape your daily life will likely happen here.
Aquarius is unconventional, it’s innovative, it wants to do things differently, so during this transit will will probably make it impossible to avoid a big shakeup in this area of your life. If you are embracing the Aquarian energy of innovation and doing things differently, and applying that alchemizing Pluto energy to the change, you could make a significant impact.

Leo rising: the seventh house is your closest one-to-one partnerships. This includes the romantic partners, the business partners or other close relationships that tend to come with paperwork and legal ties. Pluto’s transit into this house will ask for you to transform your close personal relationships — you might end this transit with a completely different inner circle than the one you began, or you might completely overhaul your personal relationship dynamics.

The retrogrades will as you to review which relationships are working and highlighting dysfunction where it exists. Aquarius in the seventh house gives an unconventional spin to your personal relationships, and Pluto’s transit will demand that they be aligned with truth, connection and revolutionary authenticity.
This transit is proving it to you, and at the other side of it, if you hold true to your boundaries, your authenticity and align with your inner truth, you’re gonna find the people who match that energy with you, who see you for who you really are, and who are willing to be in equal partnership with you.
8️⃣ – Aquarius in the Eighth House – Transformation
Cancer rising: the eighth house is sex, death, transformation, other people’s money, mental health, other people’s resources, those types of darker topics. Pluto’s at home here, because it’s ruled by Scorpio, so this transit will feel especially powerful if you have significant eighth house placements.
With this being an Aquarius, you might already have an unconventional way of handling these matters. You might see transformative topics a little bit differently than we have been conditioned to socially — we kind of have a fear of death, endings and transformation in general.
With Pluto moving home here, this could be literal, in terms of windfalls, inheritances, things like that. This could also mean transforming how you handle money, or how close partnerships in your life handle assets. If you are in a client-facing business, that’s your client’s money, so that could also mean overhauling ways that you support clients or handle their resources. During the retrograde, pay attention to what happens in these areas of your life to see what adjustments or transformations need to be had.
9️⃣ – Aquarius in the Ninth House – Philosophy
Gemini rising: the 9th house is about foreign travel, higher learning, studying philosophical, religious, and spiritual matters, basically, any type of expanded thinking you might choose for yourself. Pluto transiting this house could trigger an overhaul in your belief systems, send you down a new pathway of study, or cause you to find new places to call home.
Aquarius is about collective connection, locking in with community, and yours may be far away from where you were born. During this transit you might find yourself moving away from your homeland and establishing yourself in a new, foreign place. The retrograde gives you the opportunity to review the changes you’ve made over the past 18 months.
Transformation of philosophical ideas and higher learning, maybe diving into new spiritual studies, creating a spiritual practice, and building a spiritual community is another aspect of the transit that could be felt over the next 18 years.
1️⃣ 0️⃣ – Aquarius in the Tenth House – Public Life
Taurus rising: Are you ready to be known to be a public weirdo? This looks like getting in touch with your inner child, chasing the flashes of inspiration and innovation, being rebellious and weird. Aquarius in the tenth house is about being publicly weird, with rebellion being fun or with work being especially unconventional and tied to your authenticity.
Pluto transiting here is asking you to show up differently. If you’ve shied away from the bolder aspects of your public life, the transformation of this transit is sure to shake it out anyway. Embracing your unconventional interests and perspective is the best way to alchemize the power of this transit.
During the retrograde, review the ways that you have transformed over the past 18 months — are you headed in a more authentic direction? Does this align with where you see yourself going in the next 18 years? This is the time to make adjustments.
1️⃣ 1️⃣ – Aquarius in the Eleventh House – Community
Aries rising: Aquarius rules the 11th house, which emphasizes the collective impact of this transit for you. The eleventh house is our community, collective hope and good fortune, neighbors and social networks. This transit is sure to transform your sense of community, either through its physical makeup or your role within it.
Aquarius is the water bearer, putting an emphasis on the collective emotions of our community. Pluto’s transit here revolutionizes our minds, how we engage with one another and how we define community.
During the retrograde, reflect on the ways that your networks and groups have transformed over the past 18 months. Does your community align with your values? Are you showing up in ways that make you feel connected to a greater whole? If not, think of ways you can make the changes over the 18-year transit.
1️⃣ 2️⃣ – Aquarius in the Twelfth House – Spirit
Pisces rising: the twelfth house is the house of spirit, the subconscious, the house of self-undoing, etc. This sounds very deep and mysterious, and it is. As a person with a 12-house stellium I’m very familiar with the energy. Placements within this house provide a deep connection to the collective unconscious in a way that you can’t really define. Aquarius, is already very attuned to the collective, within the 12th house, it’s less tangible and more subconscious.
With Pluto moving here in your 12th house, you may be undergoing a spiritual transformation or spiritual awakening, feeling called to explore spiritual matters, developing intuitive abilities or maybe you’re connecting more strongly with spirit in some way.
During the retrogrades, reflect on the spiritual breakdowns or breakthroughs you’ve had over the past 18 months. Think about ways that you can support spiritual transformation in you life, trusting your connection to the collective and your intuition.
